Serum glial fibrillary acidic protein in acute stroke: feasibility to determine stroke-type, timeline and tissue-impact.

Background: Interest is emerging regarding the role of blood biomarkers in acute stroke. The aim of this pilot study was to determine the feasibility of biomarker acquisition in suspected acute stroke, using modern ultrasensitive immunoassay techniques, and explore their potential usefulness for stroke diagnosis and management.

Methods: In 62 patients with suspected acute stroke, blood samples were prospectively obtained upon arrival and prior to neuroimaging.

Perinatal and infant mental health care in Austria : Mapping of existing prevention, screening, and care services.

Purpose: Perinatal mental illness (PMI) is one of the major health problems during pregnancy and one year after birth (the perinatal period), with robust evidence of its potentially detrimental effects on the parent's and child's health. Many countries have prioritised perinatal and infant mental health care (PIMHC). In Austria, it is currently unknown how many services are available in which region.

A Rare and Life-Threatening Complication of Salmonella Typhi Infection: A Case Report From India Highlighting Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges in Salmonella Sepsis.

Salmonella infections are widely known to cause gastroenteritis, especially in areas of poor hygiene and sanitation. Common symptoms include sustained fever, chills, and abdominal pain. Sepsis, disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), various neurological manifestations, and multiorgan failure are other uncommon presentations.

Absorbable Hemostatic Agents Mimic Gossypiboma or Infected Collection on Imaging.

Absorbable hemostatic agents are commonly used in clinical practice and their imaging appearance is less known. In our case series, we demonstrate how absorbable hemostatic agents can masquerade as other clinically and medicolegally significant conditions such as gossypiboma and infected collections. Through our report, we aimed to describe the imaging features of absorbable hemostatic agents, to compare them with their imaging mimics, and provide a comprehensive review of the available literature.
