Outcomes of segmentectomy versus lobectomy in adults with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.

Objective: Surgical resection remains the gold standard treatment for bronchiectasis in patients who present with hemoptysis or suppuration, as well as in those who do not respond to clinical treatment. We sought to investigate the efficacy of sublobar resection (segmentectomy) and compare it with that of lobar resection (lobectomy) in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.

Methods: Patients undergoing lobectomy or segmentectomy between 2019 and 2023 were included in the study.

Objectives: This study aimed to verify the influence of Tai-Geiko on the physical and functional aspects of people with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Methods: This was a parallel-group, randomized trial with two arms. People with MS were allocated to an experimental group (EG) (n=10) and control group (CG) (n=09).

Experience with t-PA treatment in a large South American city.

Background And Purpose: Early thrombolysis with intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) reduces disability following ischemic stroke. However, only a small fraction of the potential candidates receive therapy. We studied the proportion of eligible patients who did not receive t-PA and the reasons therapy was withheld from patients admitted to a Brazilian university hospital.

[Sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Diagnostic criteria].

The authors report two cases of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) misdiagnosis (a craniocervical junction disorder, and a cervical spinal cord ependymoma). They review some causes of ALS-like syndrome and propose a protocol to be adopted for the study of all patients who present clinical abnormalities suggesting ALS.
