Stock estimates of the US unauthorized foreign-born population are routinely published, but less is known about this population's dynamics. Using a series of residual estimates based on 2000 Census and 2001-2022 American Community Survey (ACS), I estimate the components of change for the unauthorized immigrant population from 2000 to 2022 by region and country of origin. Further, I develop and present novel measures of expected duration in unauthorized status and demographic impact of unauthorized entries (i.

Lung infection is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Even with appropriate antibiotic and antiviral treatment, mortality in hospitalized patients often exceeds 10%, highlighting the need for the development of new therapeutic strategies. Of late, cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) is - in addition to its well-established roles in the lung airway and extrapulmonary organs - increasingly recognized as a key regulator of alveolar homeostasis and defense.

In γ-proteobacteria, the localization of the flagellum to the cell pole is mediated by the SRP-type GTPase FlhF. However, the mechanism of action of FlhF, and its relationship with the cell pole landmark protein HubP remain unclear.

Using the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidance indicates a final fit test result is a cumulative score derived from manoeuvres within the OSHA protocol. The protocol-based manoeuvres mimic aspects of clinical care by health professionals and mask fit testing is conducted to provide protection from airborne viruses and pollutants within a care setting.

Despite surgical advances, neonatal truncus arteriosus repair remains high risk and approximately 10% of patients receive perioperative extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). We aimed to assess factors and outcomes associated with the use of perioperative ECMO in infants undergoing truncus arteriosus repair. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent truncus arteriosus repair between 2004 and 2019, using administrative data from the Pediatric Health Information System database.
