Evaluating Text-to-Image Generated Photorealistic Images of Human Anatomy.

Background: Generative artificial intelligence (AI) models that can produce photorealistic images from text descriptions have many applications in medicine, including medical education and the generation of synthetic data. However, it can be challenging to evaluate their heterogeneous outputs and to compare between different models. There is a need for a systematic approach enabling image and model comparisons.

Healthcare provider communication and current contraceptive use among transgender men and gender-diverse people: results from an online, cross-sectional survey in the United States.

Objectives: To explore whether discussing contraceptive use with a healthcare provider is associated with current contraceptive use among transgender men and gender-diverse (TMGD) individuals.

Study Design: In 2019, we conducted a cross-sectional survey among transgender men and gender-diverse adults in the United States who were assigned female or intersex at birth. We measured whether respondents had ever discussed contraception with a healthcare provider as well as current use of contraception, reasons for use, and barriers to use.

Pulse-by-pulse transient thermal deformation in crystal optics under high-repetition-rate FEL.

Time-domain modeling of the thermal deformation of crystal optics can help define acceptable operational ranges across the pulse-energy repetition-rate phase space. In this paper, we have studied the transient thermal deformation of a water-cooled diamond crystal for a cavity-based X-ray free-electron laser (CBXFEL), either an X-ray free-electron laser oscillator (XFELO) or a regenerative amplifier X-ray free-electron laser (RAFEL), by numerical simulations including finite-element analysis and advanced data processing. Pulse-by-pulse transient thermal deformation of a 50 µm-thick diamond crystal has been performed with X-ray pulse repetition rates between 50 kHz and 1 MHz.

Coronary-Pulmonary Artery Fistula and critical LAD stenosis: surgical ligation and revascularization.

Coronary-pulmonary artery fistulas are rare congenital anomalies that can lead to significant clinical complications, especially when associated with coronary artery disease. We present a case of a 61-year-old male who presented with progressive dyspnea and chest discomfort. Imaging revealed a coronary-pulmonary artery fistula with 60% stenosis in the proximal left anterior descending artery.

The BSSO Foundry: A community of practice for ontologies in the behavioural and social sciences.

There has been a rapid expansion in the quantity and complexity of data, information and knowledge created in the behavioural and social sciences, yet the field is not advancing understanding, practice or policy to the extent that the insights warrant. One challenge is that research often progresses in disciplinary silos and is reported using inconsistent and ambiguous terminology. This makes it difficult to integrate and aggregate findings to produce cumulative bodies of knowledge that can be translated to applied settings.
