Background And Objectives: Limited knowledge is present regarding how fellowship training correlates with graduate outcomes and whether current residents desire an additional year of residency training. The aim of this study is to examine trends in fellowship training and compare residency and practice outcomes between those interested and those not interested in fellowship training as well as the proportion of residents desiring an additional year of residency training.

Methods: We compared data from the American Board of Family Medicine Initial Certification Questionnaire (2017-2019) to the National Graduate Survey (NGS; 2020-2022).

Methods: We identified microRNA (miRNAs/miR) with sex-differential expression in mouse hearts.

Results: Four conserved miRNAs are present in a single locus on the X-chromosome and are expressed at higher levels in females than males.

Astrocytes play critical roles in supporting structural and metabolic homeostasis in the central nervous system (CNS). CNS injury leads to the development of a range of reactive phenotypes in astrocytes whose molecular determinants are poorly understood. Finding ways to modulate astrocytic injury responses and leverage a pro-recovery phenotype holds promise in treating CNS injury.

Background: Ultrasound is now readily available in the prehospital setting and its use has been highlighted as one of the top research priorities in prehospital care. Clinical examination remains the standard care for diagnosing lung injury in the prehospital setting, yet this can be challenging and has poor diagnostic accuracy. Previous evolutionary models of duplicate gene evolution have overlooked the pivotal role of genome architecture. Here, we show that proximity-based regulatory recruitment by distally duplicated genes is an efficient mechanism for modulating tissue-specific production of preexisting proteins. By leveraging genomic asymmetries, we performed a coexpression analysis on tissue data to show the generality of enhancer capture-divergence (ECD) as a significant evolutionary driver of asymmetric, distally duplicated genes.
