Oropouche Fever, Cuba, May 2024.

Phylogenetic analyses showed that the virus responsible for a May 2024 Oropouche fever outbreak in Cuba was closely related to viruses from Brazil in 2023. Pools of Ceratopogonidae spp. biting midges and Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes were positive for Oropouche viral RNA.

Electrostatic Dissipation in 3D-Printable Silicone.

In this report, we describe the incorporation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into 3D printable siloxane elastomers for electrostatic dissipation. The composite was characterized, focusing on how rheological and mechanical properties of the siloxane are affected at various CNT loading levels. Electrical properties were also characterized to develop materials with effective electrostatic dissipation.

Impact of quality of service in the direct cost of integrated home care services.

The health and social care sectors grapple with challenges amid population growth and escalating service costs, necessitating enhanced management efficiency. This study centers on Quality of Service (QoS) in integrated home health and social care, assessing its impact on costs. Delving into financial considerations and user perspectives, we propose QoS measures based on consultations with stakeholders.

Probe particles in odd active viscoelastic fluids: How activity and dissipation determine linear stability.

Odd viscoelastic materials are constrained by fewer symmetries than their even counterparts. The breaking of these symmetries allows these materials to exhibit different features, which have attracted considerable attention in recent years. Immersing a bead in such complex fluids allows for probing their physical properties, highlighting signatures of their oddity and exploring the consequences of these broken symmetries.
