Efficacy of cabergoline in non-irradiated patients with acromegaly: a multi-centre cohort study.

Objective: Elucidate the efficacy (as per current biochemical criteria) of cabergoline monotherapy or as addition to long-acting somatostatin receptor ligand (SRL) in patients with acromegaly and no previous pituitary radiotherapy.

Design: Multi-centre, retrospective, cohort study (four UK Pituitary centres: Birmingham, Bristol, Leicester, Oxford).

Methods: Clinical, laboratory, imaging data were analysed.

Field and Landscape Risk Factors Impacting Flavescence Dorée Infection: Insights from Spatial Bayesian Modeling in the Bordeaux Vineyards.

Flavescence dorée (FD) is a quarantine disease threatening European vineyards. Its management is based on mandatory insecticide treatments and the uprooting of infected plants identified during annual surveys. Field surveys are currently not optimized because the drivers affecting FD spread in vineyard landscapes remain poorly understood.

Efficiency and equity in land conservation: the effects of policy scale.

This paper studies the effects of policy scale for land conservation schemes based on global objectives but implemented at local levels. They are explored in the classical reserve site selection framework for policy efficiency, to which we add the common social objective of equity between spatial units. We first analyze the role of the biophysical attributes of land available for conservation.

The structure of the anti-c-myc antibody 9E10 Fab fragment/epitope peptide complex reveals a novel binding mode dominated by the heavy chain hypervariable loops.

The X-ray structure of the Fab fragment from the anti-c-myc antibody 9E10 was determined both as complex with its epitope peptide and for the free Fab. In the complex, two Fab molecules adopt an unusual head to head orientation with the epitope peptide arranged between them. In contrast, the free Fab forms a dimer with different orientation.

Effect of opium smoking on concentrations of carcinoembryonic antigen and tissue polypeptide antigen.

Previous studies have related opium and its pyrolysates to the risk of developing certain cancers. The aim of this work was to evaluate the clinical usefulness of determining carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) levels in habitual opium smokers. Serum CEA concentrations were measured in 128 opium smokers and in 44 controls of cigarette only smokers and 47 normal non-smokers by an EIA-based assay.
