Venous thrombosis is a leading cause of morbidity/mortality and associated with deficiencies of the anticoagulant protein C (PC, PROC) and its cofactor, protein S (PS, PROS1). Heterozygous mutations increase the risk of adult-onset thrombosis, while homozygous mutations result in pre/neonatal lethal thrombosis. PC- and PS-deficient patient phenotypes are generally considered clinically indistinguishable.

: Among strategies to limit ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injuries in transplantation, cell therapy using stem cells to condition/repair transplanted organs appears promising. We hypothesized that using a cell therapy based on extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from urine progenitor cells (UPCs) during hypothermic and normothermic machine perfusion can prevent IR-related kidney damage. We isolated and characterized porcine UPCs and their extracellular vesicles (EVs).

This paper addresses the use of ultrabright dye-based fluorescent organic nanoparticles in a 3D single-particle tracking two-photon microscopy setup. The nanoparticles consist of an assembly of quadrupolar dyes, presenting a large two-photon absorption cross-section. They exhibit low photobleaching, crucial for long-term tracking, and their high brightness allows nanometer localization precision.

The macronutrient composition of common milk replacers (MR) largely differs from bovine whole milk (WM). These differences are more nutritionally relevant when calves receive higher milk allowances. Therefore, the present study compared fresh WM with a conventional MR fed at 2 level of feeding allowances evaluating growth performance, apparent total-tract nutrient digestibilities, nitrogen (N) balance, and serum metabolite profiles in calves.
