Background: Against a background of significant changes in UK medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) established the Wade Programme in Surgical Anatomy in 2012, as a means of supporting the study of surgical anatomy throughout training. This article provides a 10-year review of the Wade Programme and its educational foundation.

Methods: A novel methodology, the 'Wade Educational Approach', was used in the design and development of a portfolio of professional courses at three training levels: Level 1 - RCSEd Affiliate, Level 2 - Early Years (MRCS) and Level 3 - Later Years (FRCS and CPD).

Background: Breast mucinous carcinoma (MC) is typically positive for estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expressions and negative for human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER2) overexpression. HER2 positive MC is a rare entity; its response to neoadjuvant HER2-targeted therapy remains unclear.

Methods: Four cases of HER2 positive MC and seven cases of HER2 positive invasive ductal carcinoma with mucinous features (MCF) were identified.

Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is a major process by which genes are transferred between microbes in the rhizosphere. Background: Lignin is an aromatic polymer deposited in secondary cell walls of higher plants to provide strength, rigidity, and hydrophobicity to vascular tissues. Due to its interconnections with cell wall polysaccharides, lignin plays important roles during plant growth and defense, but also has a negative impact on industrial processes aimed at obtaining monosaccharides from plant biomass. Engineering lignin offers a solution to this issue.
