Introduction: Fibrotic interstitial lung diseases (ILD) are a heterogeneous group of conditions. Progression criteria include clinical, imaging, and/or lung functional decline. Currently, the 6-min walk test (6MWT) is considered the gold standard for assessing exercise-induced desaturation.

This study describes the synthesis and characterization of chlorambucil (CLB)-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) for potential application in cancer therapy. The nanoparticles were designed with a diameter between 20 and 50 nm to optimize cellular uptake and avoid rapid clearance from the bloodstream. The synthesis method involved modifying a previously reported technique to reduce particle size.

Based on personal experience over several years, we carried out a comparative analysis of two different European health systems, in Portugal and France, from a perspective comparing occupational medicine and use of telemedicine in a postpandemic context. This analysis addressed four aspects: Health System; Occupational Medicine; Telemedicine/Telework; and Future and Suggestions. The study employed searches and review of recent articles, guidelines, and recommendations from the authorities responsible for regulation (Medical Doctors Order, Labor Legislation, and Medical Collegiate Recommendations) and analysis of some statistical indicators from recent studies.

The blend of butadiene and acrylonitrile copolymer (NBR) with natural poly-cis-isoprene (NR) shows increased resistance to swelling in solvents in comparison to the individual components. In aerospace, NBR rubber is used as thermal protection for rockets and shall not contain other polymers, even in low contents, otherwise, it can affect the protection performance and rocket safety by causing detachment of the elastomer/propellant interface; therefore, this investigation presents methodologies to determine the NR/NBR contents. This study explores different analytical techniques, such as Raman spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, in the mid-infrared (MIR) by reflection and in the near-infrared by reflectance (NIRA) modes, Furthermore, quantification strategies by univariate, bivariate and multivariate (chemometric) models are evaluated and compared.

Article Synopsis
  • The kernel oil from Attalea phalerata, or Acurí, has traditional uses in treating respiratory issues, inflammation, and fever, but lacks pharmaceutical research.
  • A study developed Acurí oil-loaded nanocapsules, assessing their cytotoxicity, anti-inflammatory effects, and oral toxicity in rats, showing promising results such as high encapsulation efficiency and stability.
  • The nanocapsules provided significant anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative effects against cancer cells while being nontoxic, indicating potential for new antitumor therapies and nutraceutical applications.
