The prevalence of PD-L1 expression in patients with advanced oesophageal cancer: the EXCEED observational study.

Aims: There are limited data on programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression in oesophageal cancer (OC) from multicentre studies conducted across China. We aimed to determine the prevalence of high PD-L1 expression in patients with advanced OC.

Methods: The EXCEED study was a multicentre, retrospective analysis of data from six tertiary hospitals that evaluated PD-L1 expression in adults with advanced OC or advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

Gene syntax defines supercoiling-mediated transcriptional feedback.

Gene syntax-the order and arrangement of genes and their regulatory elements-shapes the dynamic coordination of both natural and synthetic gene circuits. Transcription at one locus profoundly impacts the transcription of nearby adjacent genes, but the molecular basis of this effect remains poorly understood. Here, using integrated reporter circuits in human cells, we show that supercoiling-mediated feedback regulates expression of adjacent genes in a syntax-specific manner.

Critical Role of Rubber Functionalities on the Mechanical and Electrical Responses of Carbon Nanotube-Based Electroactive Rubber Composites.

Carbon nanomaterials, particularly carbon nanotubes (CNTs), are widely used as reinforcing fillers in rubber composites for advanced mechanical and electrical applications. However, the influence of rubber functionality and its interactions with CNTs remains underexplored. This study investigates electroactive elastomeric composites fabricated with CNTs in two common diene rubbers: natural rubber (NR) and acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), each with distinct functionalities.

Association of Increased CT-Attenuation of Visceral Adipose Tissue After Surgery with Poor Survival Outcomes in Patients with Stage II-III Gastric Cancer: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

Background/objectives: This study aimed to investigate whether post-operative changes in the computed tomography (CT)-attenuation of subcutaneous (SAT) and visceral (VAT) adipose tissues were significantly associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS), peritoneal RFS, and overall survival (OS) in patients with stage II-III gastric cancer.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 243 patients with stage II-III gastric cancer who underwent curative surgery. CT-attenuation values of SAT (SAT HU) and VAT (VAT HU) were measured from non-contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic CT images taken pre-operatively and 6 months post-operatively.
