Women experiencing homelessness constitute a group with idiosyncratic characteristics and needs that have largely remained invisible. Their discriminatory situation has been studied very little which may limit the design of specific intervention strategies. Buenos Aires (Argentina) is one of the main megalopolises in Latin America, where information on women experiencing homelessness is scarcely available.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a major public health problem characterized by multiple simultaneous comorbidities whose specific contribution is challenging to disentangle in humans, leading to a generalized therapeutic approach that may not account for the underlying pathology.
Methods: We followed distinct mouse models of major HFpEF comorbidities for 2.5 years to unveil their specific contribution to the syndrome.
Introduction: Cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI) is a well-known complication that increases morbidity and mortality rates. The objective of this study was to reduce CSA-AKI through nephrologist intervention in patients awaiting cardiac surgery.
Methods: We performed a single center, open-label, randomized clinical trial including 380 patients who underwent scheduled cardiac surgery at the Hospital de Bellvitge between July 2015 and October 2019.
The human genome has been the subject of intense scrutiny by experimental and manual curation projects for more than two decades. Novel coding genes have been proposed from large-scale RNASeq, ribosome profiling and proteomics experiments. Here we carry out an in-depth analysis of an entire proteomics database.
