Practitioners at the local and regional scale are under increased pressure to reduce risks to people and property posed by the threats of sea-level rise (SLR) and associated impacts. To achieve this, a dialog between practitioners and scientists is imperative. Current research documents impacts of SLR, evaluates local SLR adaptation activities, identifies barriers to action, and works to assess local adaptive capacity.

Winter melt trends portend widespread declines in snow water resources.

In many mountainous regions, winter precipitation accumulates as snow that melts in spring and summer, providing water to one billion people globally. Climate warming and earlier snowmelt compromises this natural water storage. While snowpack trend analyses commonly focus on snow water equivalent (SWE), we propose that trends in accumulation season snowmelt serve as a critical indicator of hydrologic change.

The effects of presentation time on preference for curvature of real objects and meaningless novel patterns.

Tumor embolism after pneumonectomy for primary pulmonary neoplasia.

We report a case of tumor embolism of the lower right extremity after right pneumonectomy. This is an infrequent complication and in most cases occurs during the intraoperative or immediate postoperative period. Our patient underwent surgery for primary pulmonary neoplasia (squamous cell carcinoma) and 4 hours later showed clinical signs of acute arterial occlusion in the lower right extremity.
