Prostate cancer active surveillance outcomes in a cohort composed primarily of African American and Hispanic American Men.

Introduction: Active surveillance outcomes in minority patients are poorly characterized, as most surveillance series are comprised primarily of Caucasian men. We aimed to characterize outcomes of African American and Hispanic men undergoing surveillance and to identify factors associated with transition to definitive treatment.

Material And Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of men undergoing active surveillance at our institution.

Association of lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) with endosalpingiosis in the retroperitoneal lymph nodes: report of two cases.

We report 2 patients in whom pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) affected the retroperitoneal lymph nodes and was associated with endosalpingiosis. These lesions were large, encapsulated masses with multiple cysts containing chylous fluid. Both were characterized by proliferating LAM cells that formed fascicles separated by slit-like channels.

Use of eluent containing surfactant for the liquid chromatographic analysis of porphyrins by direct serum injection.

A gradient elution reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the direct serum injection analysis of porphyrins based on the use of eluent containing an anionic surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate) at a concentration below the critical micelle concentration to elute the serum proteins at the column void volume. Separation and detection performances were tested with a mixture of porphyrin standards containing uro-, heptacarboxylic-, hexacarboxylic-, pentacarboxylic-, copro-, zinc proto- and mesoporphyrin in a model serum consisting of 50 mg/ml bovine serum albumin. Average limit of detection is 0.

Circulating mucopolysaccharide (mucin) in two adults with metastatic adenocarcinoma. Detection in peripheral blood smear and at autopsy.

We report two cases of circulating mucin that occurred in women with metastatic adenocarcinoma. In both women, mucin was seen on the peripheral blood smear, but no difficulties were encountered in counting blood cells. In one patient, the mucin was grossly visible in the plasma and within phagocytes.

Digital angiography and osteoblastoma of the triquetrum.

A patient had persistent pain in left wrist of 2 years' duration. Only intravenous digital subtraction angiography was specific in establishing a tumor in the left triquetrum as the cause. The tumor was an osteoblastoma.
