The Impact of Tooth Wear on the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life of the Elderly in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Background: Tooth wear lesion, otherwise known as tooth surface loss, is an insidious cumulative and multifactorial condition causing irreversible destruction of tooth enamel and dentine. Over time this lesion can threaten the affected individual's Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL). OHRQoL entails interaction among oral health systems: social factors, psychological factors, and the rest of the body.

A RANDOMISED CONTROLLED TRIAL ON CLINICAL EFFICACY OF SODIUM PERBORATE MIXED WITH DISTILLED WATER AND 30% HYDROGEN PEROXIDE IN THE LIGHTENING OF NON-VITAL DISCOLOURED ANTERIOR TEETH.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of sodium perborate mixed with distilled water and sodium perborate mixed with 30% hydrogen peroxide as non-vital bleaching agent of anterior discolored teeth.

Materials And Methods: A randomized controlled trial was undertaken among 61 patients who presented with 70 discolored anterior teeth at the Conservative and Family Dentistry Clinics of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. The 70 teeth were randomly allocated into two groups of treatments.

Wound Healing and Cosmetic Outcomes in Neonatal Circumcision Using Three Different Techniques.

Background: Circumcision of a male child is an integral part of some African cultures. An ideal technique of neonatal circumcision should be simple, safe and heal satisfactorily with good cosmetic appeal. The aim was to compare conventional dissection (CD), Plastibell (PB) and Gomco (GM) techniques of circumcision in neonates in terms of wound healing, wound healing complications, cosmetic outcome and parental satisfaction.

Treatment coverage of mass administration of azithromycin among children aged 1-11 months in 21 districts of Kebbi state, Nigeria.

Background: The WHO recommends mass drug administration (MDA) as a strategy to deliver safe and cost-effective medicines to prevent and treat diseases. The antibiotic, azithromycin, has been used during MDA for the treatment and prevention of trachoma in Nigeria. Azithromycin has recently been shown to reduce infant mortality in communities receiving it for trachoma-elimination purposes in sub-Saharan Africa.

Access to healthcare and social determinants of health among female migrant beggars in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Introduction: Migration is a social determinant of health, and a major underlying factor of inequity of access to health and disparities in health outcomes. Migrant beggars from Northern part of Nigeria are a common feature in Southern Nigeria. Not too much is known about the challenges associated with access to healthcare and social determinants of health among this group of people in Nigeria.
