The production of colloidal metal nanostructures with complex geometries usually involves shape-directing additives, such as metal ions or thiols, which stabilize high-index facets. These additives may however affect the nanoparticles' surface chemistry, hindering applications, e.g.

Although there is significant knowledge about the relevance of this enzyme during some physiological and stress processes, the available information about its involvement in fruit ripening is scarce. Using sweet green pepper (Capsicum annuum L.

Based on our previous transcriptomic (RNA-Seq) and proteomic (iTRAQ) data at different stages of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) fruit ripening and after exposure to nitric oxide (NO) enriched atmosphere, a broad analysis has allowed us to characterize the functioning of this enzyme.

Twenty-four ejaculates from four bulls were divided into four groups based on the cryopreservation method and RES addition: CS-RES (n = 80), CS-Co (n = 80), UR-RES (n = 24), and UR-Co (n = 24). The CS freezing involved exposing sperm straws with 5% glycerol to liquid nitrogen (LN) vapors, while UR freezing submerged sperm drops with 100 mM sucrose directly into LN.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTotal antioxidant capacity (TAC) is a reliable indicator of antioxidant content in animal and plant samples. The different experimental approaches available allow the determination of TAC using, as a reference, diverse compounds with recognized antioxidant capacities such as Trolox, ascorbic acid, gallic acid, or melatonin. A new portable device, named BRS (BQC redox system), is now commercially available that, through an electrochemical approach, allows the determination of TAC in a simple, fast, reproducible, and robust way.
