A novel, optimized, polysaccharide and biochar-based, compostable hydrogel horticultural growing substrate for use in hydroponics and vertical farming was created based upon empirical methods and statistical design of experiments. A 15-run D-optimal mixture design of experiments was completed that increased the 14-day plant growing ability of a five-component hydrogel nearly ten-fold from 4.3695 g to 41.

Case Description: A patient with achondroplasia presented with progressive paraparesis attributed to a magnetic resonance-documented intradural disc herniation at the T12-L1 level occupying more than 90% of the spinal canal. It was successfully removed through a T12 laminectomy with durotomy; note a laminectomy would have been contraindicated if this had been an extradural anterior/anterolateral disc.
Objective: Cerebral amyloidomas (CA) are exceptionally rare tumor-like lesions composed of cerebral amyloid-beta, which is derived from the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein.
Methods: We presented a case of recurrent CA and performed a systematic review, comparing their initial presentation, imaging features, neurosurgical treatment, and natural history of the disease.
Illustrative Case: A 65-year-old male with a history of right homonymous hemianopsia, who underwent subtotal resection of a CA 19 years before, presents to the emergency department with right hemiparesis, dysarthria, and a new onset of clonic seizures.
Fungi colonize the mammalian gastrointestinal (GI) tract and can adopt both commensal and opportunistic lifestyles. In a recent issue of Nature, Liang et al. unraveled the complex interplay between Candida morphotypes and the gut bacterial microbiota and described a key role for candidalysin in gut colonization.

Previous studies have explored coping mechanisms to deal with this addiction problem, but did not consider the need to simultaneously cope with different dimensions. Therefore, our study aimed to examine the moderating effect of various coping mechanisms on the relationship between social media addiction and adolescent life satisfaction.
