The Use of Long-Term Monthly Basiliximab Infusions as Rescue Maintenance Immunosuppression in Pancreas Transplant Recipients.

This single-center retrospective study was designed to evaluate the use of basiliximab as an alternative rescue maintenance immunosuppression in situations where standard maintenance immunosuppression is not tolerated after a pancreas transplant. All pancreas transplants performed between January 11, 2006, and January 6, 2022, were reviewed. All recipients received rabbit antithymocyte globulin (rATG) induction with tacrolimus + sirolimus maintenance for simultaneous pancreas and kidney (SPK) and additional low-dose mycophenolic acid for pancreas transplant alone (PTA).

Abdominal Gynecologic Procedures in Pancreas Transplant Recipients.

Introduction: With the growing population of pancreas transplant recipients followed long-term, some female recipients are going to require surgical intervention for gynecologic symptoms and pathologies. Currently, there is a lack of literature describing how to approach this population and whether pelvic gynecologic procedures (GYN) can be performed safely given the proximity of the pancreatic (and possibly renal) allograft. In this single-center retrospective analysis, all pancreas transplant recipients that subsequently underwent GYN were reviewed.

Objective: In recent years, full childhood routine immunisation coverage has fallen by 5% to levels not seen since 2008; between 2019 and 2021, 67 million children were undervaccinated. We aimed to identify and describe the determinants of vaccination drop-out from the perspectives of caregivers and health workers in Malawi.

Design: We used a community-based participatory research approach to collect data through photo elicitation, short message service exchanges, in-depth interviews and observations.

Epidemiology and Risk Factors for Invasive Fungal Infections in Pancreas Transplant in the Absence of Postoperative Antifungal Prophylaxis.

Background: Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) remain a rare yet dreaded complication following pancreas transplantation. Current guidelines recommend antifungal prophylaxis in patients with 1 or more risk factors. At our center, single-dose antifungal prophylaxis is administered in the operating room but none subsequently, regardless of risk factors.

Role of gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (GPOEM) in chronic gastroparesis management after pancreas transplantation.

Gastroparesis is a common complaint among patients with diabetes. Symptoms tend to improve following successful pancreas transplantation (PTx), but persist despite euglycemia in a subset of patients. We aimed to assess the benefit of gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM) in persistent gastroparesis following PTx.
