Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma has high recurrence and cisplatin resistance. As cancer stem cells, autophagy, and sphingolipids have been appointed as associated with chemotherapy resistance, we tested combined treatments targeting autophagy and/or sphingolipid metabolism with paclitaxel using cisplatin-resistant oral squamous cell carcinoma cells.

Methods: Cisplatin-resistant oral squamous cell carcinoma cells were maintained under exposition to FTY720 and chloroquine combined with paclitaxel and submitted to viability, clonogenicity, and spheres formation assays.

Pediatric obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) has a multifactorial origin. For the child with no dysmorphic disorders or comorbidities, its main etiology is pharyngeal soft tissue hypertrophy, a dimensional reduction of the facial skeletal frame restricting the airway, an anomaly of muscular tone, or a combination of these factors. Consequently, proper diagnosis and treatment planning for these children can require several medical specialties, according to the complexity, severity, and persistence of OSAS: ear-nose-throat specialists (ENT), pneumologists/allergologists, dentofacial orthopedists/orthodontists, and physical therapists/speech therapists.

The structure of the title tri-fluoro-acetic acid adduct, C17H12N2O3·C2HF3O2, contains a tri-fluoro-acetic acid mol-ecule hydrogen bonded to the imine N atom of the imidazole ring of a nearly planar four-fused-ring system (r.m.s.

A near infrared (NIR) fluorescent polymeric nanoparticle, commercialized under the name X-Sight 761 (X761), was tested for compatibility with pre-clinical in vivo imaging applications. In one experiment, an optical clearance profile was obtained by performing whole animal fluorescence imaging over the course of 48 hours on mice injected intravenously with X761. In a second trial, a temporal biodistribution was assessed by conducting necropsy and ex vivo analysis of X761 tissue accumulation at selected time points over a 48 hours period after i.

The title complex, [CuCl(2)(C(21)H(22)N(4)O)], contains a bis-(benzimidazole) unit with a chiral bridgehead C atom that forms part of a tetra-hydro-pyrrole ring fused to one of the benzimidazoles. The chelate angle is 90.45 (9)° and the dihedral angle between the essentially planar benzimidazole fragments is 26.
