Transgenic mice and organoid models, such as three-dimensional tumoroid cultures, have emerged as powerful tools for investigating cancer development and targeted therapies. Yet, the extent to which these preclinical models recapitulate the cellular identity of heterogeneous malignancies, like neuroblastoma, remains to be validated. In this study, we characterized the transcriptional landscape of TH-MYCN tumors by single-cell RNA sequencing and developed ex vivo tumoroids.

Lichens are mutualistic associations consisting of a primary fungal host, and one to few primary phototrophic symbiont(s), usually a green alga and/or a cyanobacterium. They form complex thallus structures, which provide unique and stable habitats for many other microorganisms. Frequently isolated from lichens are the so-called black fungi, or black yeasts, which are mainly characterized by melanized cell walls and extremophilic lifestyles.

Alkali metal batteries have high energy densities required to power future devices; however, uneven metal deposition is a critical barrier to achieving long lifespans. We have developed an elegant noncryogenic transmission electron microscopy method which has facilitated the first observations of epitaxial deposition in alkali metal batteries. Using this method, we have confirmed epitaxial interactions between (002) sodium crystallite planes and (01-11) planes in zinc current collectors.

Heat treatment serves as a viable strategy to effectively mitigate the intense corrosion of biodegradable WE43 alloys. However, limited comprehension of the passivation mechanisms underlying heat treatment and the dilemma to quantitatively examine the evolution of hydrogen gas in vivo introduce uncertainties in designing heat treatments for developing clinically applicable WE43. This work aims to advance this knowledge by applying cutting-edge atom probe tomography to provide atomic-scale insights into the passivation roles of rare earth (RE)-rich β (Mg(Y, Nd)) and β' (MgNdY) nanophases induced by T6 heat treatment at 250 °C, and employing machine learning-based image analysis techniques to quantitatively unveil WE43's in vivo gas evolution during a 12-week implantation.

The green algal genus Trebouxia is the most frequently encountered photobiont of the lichen symbiosis. The single-celled symbionts have a worldwide distribution, including all continents and climate zones. The vast, largely undescribed, diversity of Trebouxia lineages is currently grouped into four phylogenetic clades (A, C, I, and S), based on a multilocus phylogeny.
