Aiming at identifying biomarkers for bladder cancer, the serum proteome was explored in a pilot study through a profiling approach using protein arrays. Supervised analyses identified a panel 171 immunogenic proteins differentially expressed between patients with bladder cancer (n = 12) and controls without the disease (n = 10). The microanatomical expression patterns of novel immunogenic proteins, especially dynamin and clusterin, were found significantly associated with histopathologic variables and overall survival, as confirmed by immunohistochemistry using an independent series of bladder tumors contained in tissue microarrays (n = 289).

Objectives: Multiplexing technologies based on the use of microspheres as the solid phase have opened new possibilities for the analysis of autoantibodies. As an alternative to the traditional immunoassays, it is possible to use these methods in combination with flow cytometry for simultaneous measurement of anti-thyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO) and anti-thyroglobulin (anti-Tg) antibodies.

Background: The measurement of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) is used in the autoimmune laboratory for the screening of connective tissue diseases (CTD). Background: Antibodies to citrullinated proteins have been described in patients with RA and these appear to be the most specific markers of the disease. The objective of this study was to analyse the improvement in diagnostic accuracy of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide autoantibodies and IgA rheumatoid factor in patients with clinical suspicion of RA and who were IgM rheumatoid factor-positive. Anti-CCP antibodies were measured with three different second-generation enzyme immunoassays.
