Despite the existence of effective therapy options for patients with localized colorectal cancer, advanced-stage patients have limited therapies. Genomic profiling is a promising tool for guiding treatment selection as well as patient monitoring. Here, we describe a novel gene rearrangement () detected in a patient with advanced colorectal cancer that could be a therapeutic target.

Senescent cells are commonly detected in tumors after chemo and radiotherapy, leading to a characteristic cellular phenotype that resists apoptotic cell death. In this study, we used multiple melanoma cell lines, molecular markers, and therapies to investigate the key role of the BCL-2 family proteins in the survival of senescent cells. We first used BH3 profiling to assess changes in apoptotic priming upon senescence induction.

Selective metabolic regulations by p53 mutant variants in pancreatic cancer.

Background: Approximately half of all human cancers harbour mutations in the p53 gene, leading to the generation of neomorphic p53 mutant proteins. These mutants can exert gain-of-function (GOF) effects, potentially promoting tumour progression. However, the clinical significance of p53 GOF mutations, as well as the selectivity of individual variants, remains controversial and unclear.

Medium-term survival of patients with mechanical and biological aortic prosthesis at the 6th decade of life.

Objective: The best aortic prosthesis type in 60-70 year old patients is not established. Our aim was to evaluate the survival in a National cohort of patients between 60-70 years old who required surgical aortic valve replacement for aortic stenosis (SAVR) with either a mechanical (MP) or bioprosthesis (BP) valve.
