Diet-related chronic diseases account for seven out of the ten leading causes of death in the USA. Food is Medicine (FIM) interventions can be effective adjuncts to standard medical care to address this cost burden. While the Food is Medicine Pyramid recommends some culinary skill development when integrating FIM into healthcare, the emphasis is on medically tailored meals and food provision.

Determining skill mix and optimal multidisciplinary team composition: A scoping review.

Holistic care models aligned to population care needs are needed to help leaders shed pre-existing mindsets when determining skill mix and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) composition. Using a PRISMA flowchart, a narrow eligibility criterion, and a research question, this scoping review resulted in 9 frameworks/models published between January 2000 and September 2023. Analysis showed common methodological elements such as a population needs-based approach, a systematic process, engagement, three or more professions reporting task or competency level analysis, change advocacy, and reliance on population and workforce supply data.

First description of the baubellum in the spectacled bear Tremarctos ornatus (Mammalia: Ursidae).

The baubellum (os clitoridis) is a bone found in the clitoris of many female eutherian mammals and is homologous to the baculum in males. In contrast to the baculum, the baubellum has received very little attention regarding its morphological or interspecific diversity, or on hypotheses for its function. The presence of the baubellum in bears (Ursidae) has only been established and mentioned in the literature for the Ursus genus, and not for the other genera of bears.

Culinary Medicine or Culinary Nutrition? Defining Terms for Use in Education and Practice.

Examination of how terms such as culinary nutrition, culinary nutrition science, culinary medicine, culinary nutrition professional, culinary nutrition intervention, culinary nutrition activity, and culinary nutrition competency are used in practice, and the creation of consensus definitions will promote the consistent use of these terms across work areas and disciplines. Thirty leading practitioners, academics, and researchers in the fields of food and nutrition across Australia, the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia were approached by investigators via email to submit definitions of key terms using a Qualtrics survey link. Further participants were reached through snowball recruitment.
