Drive time to care and retention in HIV care: Rural-urban differences among Medicaid enrollees in the United States South.

Purpose: Less than 50% of people with HIV (PWH) in the United States are retained in care, a key step along the HIV care continuum. We examined the impact of geographic access to care on retention in care for urban and rural PWH.

Methods: We used Medicaid claims and clinician data (Medicaid Analytic eXtract and MAX Provider Characteristics, 2009-2012) for 13 Southern states plus the District of Columbia.

Genetic divergence and one-way gene flow influence contemporary evolution and ecology of a partially migratory fish.

Recent work has revealed the importance of contemporary evolution in shaping ecological outcomes. In particular, rapid evolutionary divergence between populations has been shown to impact the ecology of populations, communities, and ecosystems. While studies have focused largely on the role of adaptive divergence in generating ecologically important variation among populations, much less is known about the role of gene flow in shaping ecological outcomes.

Epilepsy and overgrowth-intellectual disability syndromes: a patient organization perspective on collaborating to accelerate pathways to treatment.

Overgrowth-intellectual disability (OGID) syndromes are a collection of rare genetic disorders with overlapping clinical profiles. In addition to the cardinal features of general overgrowth (height and/or head circumference at least two standard deviations above the mean) and some degree of intellectual disability, the OGID syndromes are often associated with neurological anomalies including seizures. In an effort to advance research in directions that will generate meaningful treatments for people with OGID syndromes, a new collaborative partnership called the Overgrowth Syndromes Alliance (OSA) formed in 2023.

Understanding the contribution of intellectual disabilities nurses. Paper 4 of 4 - Impacts of intellectual disability nursing interventions.

Internationally, there is a wide variety of roles and expectations for intellectual disabilities nurses, and the range of nursing interventions they undertake in this field has not been clearly identified. In this paper we report the impacts of intellectual nursing interventions from an online survey of intellectual disability nurses. An online survey, using voluntary response sampling was used to collect case study examples from 230 participants from seven countries.
