Extrusion-based 3D bioprinting is one of the most promising and widely used technologies in bioprinting. However, the development of bioprintable, biocompatible bioinks with tailored mechanical and biological properties remains a major challenge in this field. Alginate dialdehyde-gelatin (ADA-GEL) hydrogels face these difficulties and enable to tune the mechanical properties depending on the degree of oxidation (% DO) of ADA.

It remains unclear why unilateral proximal carotid artery occlusion (UCAO) causes benign oligemia in mice, yet leads to various outcomes (asymptomatic-to-death) in humans. We hypothesized that inhibition of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) both transforms UCAO-mediated oligemia into full infarction and expands pre-existing infarction. Using 900 mice, we i) investigated stroke-related effects of UCAO with/without intraperitoneal administration of the NOS inhibitor (NOSi) N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME, 400 mg/kg); ii) examined the rescue effect of the NO-donor, molsidomine (200 mg/kg at 30 minutes); and iii) tested the impact of antiplatelet medications.

Background And Study Aim: Local resection of early rectal cancer is being increasingly used. With invasion of the muscularis propria layer of the rectal wall, the risk of lymph node metastasis becomes too high to consider this the optimal oncological treatment. Therefore, a diagnosis of muscular invasion is important before attempting local resection; however, endoscopic and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images have limitations, such as overstaging (26-31%).
