Objectives: To provide a narrative review of disordered lymphatic dynamics and its impact on critical care relevant condition management.

Data Sources: Detailed search strategy using PubMed and Ovid Medline for English language articles (2013-2023) describing congenital or acquired lymphatic abnormalities including lymphatic duct absence, injury, leak, or obstruction and their associated clinical conditions that might be managed by a critical care medicine practitioner.

Study Selection: Studies that specifically addressed abnormalities of lymphatic flow and their management were selected.

The tear fluids from three healthy individuals and three patients with diabetes mellitus were examined using atomic force microscopy-infrared spectroscopy (AFM-IR) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The dried tear samples showed different surface morphologies: the control sample had a dense network of heart-shaped dendrites, while the diabetic sample had fern-shaped dendrites. By using the AFM-IR technique we identified spatial distribution of constituents, indicating how diabetes affects the structural characteristics of dried tears.

Delayed hemolytic transfusion reaction (DHTR) poses a significant challenge in patients receiving blood transfusions. This case report highlights the complexities of managing DHTR in a newly diagnosed chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) patient with clinically significant JKa and little c antibodies during induction chemotherapy. A 46-year-old woman with CMML-2 who presented for induction chemotherapy was found to have hemolytic anemia.
