The impact of real-time feedback on ventilation quality during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A before-and-after study.

Introduction: Ventilations are a critical component of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). There is conflicting evidence, however, on the most appropriate method of ventilation during cardiac arrest management. Recent evidence has suggested that regardless of the optimal ventilation strategy, ventilations are often not delivered compliant with guideline recommendations.

Functional recovery of wrist surgery with regional versus general anesthesia: a prospective observational study.

Purpose: Regional anesthesia may favour postoperative rehabilitation by inhibiting peripheral sensitization and secondary hyperalgesia. The literature on this subject is limited. In the present FUNCTION study, we sought to compare the functional recovery post orthopedic wrist surgery with regional versus general anesthesia.

Oral estradiol/micronized progesterone may be associated with lower risk of venous thromboembolism compared with conjugated equine estrogens/medroxyprogesterone acetate in real-world practice.

Objectives: The Women's Health Initiative study reported an increased risk of venous thromboembolism among menopausal women treated with conjugated equine estrogens/medroxyprogesterone acetate (CEE/MPA) versus placebo. Newer hormone therapies may have a lower venous thromboembolism risk. The study compared the risk of venous thromboembolism between women treated with the combined oral product 17β-estradiol/micronized progesterone (E2/P4) and those treated with oral CEE/MPA regimens.

Functional recovery with peripheral nerve block versus general anesthesia for upper limb surgery: a systematic review.

Background: Peripheral nerve block is a common anesthetic technique used during orthopedic upper limb surgery. Injection of local anesthetics around the target nerve inhibits the action of voltage-dependent sodium channels, inhibiting neurotransmission of pain impulses and providing motor immobility. Compared to general anesthesia, it could improve functional recovery by inhibiting nociceptive impulses and inflammation, thus reducing postoperative pain and immobilization and improving postoperative rehabilitation.

Fracture risk in women with osteoporosis initiated on gastro-resistant risedronate versus immediate release risedronate or alendronate: a claims data analysis in the USA.

Unlabelled: The study results indicate that women with osteoporosis initiated on gastro-resistant risedronate have a lower risk of fracture than those initiated on immediate release risedronate or alendronate. A large proportion of women discontinued all oral bisphosphonate therapies within 1 year of treatment start.

Purpose: Using a US claims database (2009-2019), we compared risk of fractures between women with osteoporosis initiated on gastro-resistant (GR) risedronate and those initiated on (a) immediate release (IR) risedronate or (b) immediate release alendronate.
