Ophidism is a public health problem in tropical countries, occurring predominantly in rural areas. In Colombia, among the species responsible for snakebite envenomation, inflicting high mortality, is the Chocoan bushmaster, , better known locally by the names " (warty)" and " (rot-causing)". In this research, the cardiotoxic effect of the venom of in male Wistar rats weighing 230 ± 20 g was evaluated.

Objectives: Trabecular bone in the vertebrae is critical for the distribution of load and stress throughout the neuroaxis, as well as the intervertebral disk, ligamentous complex, and facet joints. The objective was to assess the stress and strain distribution of the L4-S1 spine segment by a finite element analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • In Colombia, snakebites are commonly caused by several snake genera, including Bothrocophias, which can lead to serious health issues like amputations and death.
  • A study focused on the venom of Bothrocophias campbelli revealed it has a lethal dose of 142.7 µg/mouse and shows potent myotoxic and edematogenic activities, while its hemorrhagic effects are relatively weaker.
  • The venom's effects on muscle tissue include severe damage and inflammation, suggesting that bites may result in significant muscle necrosis and swelling, with potential complications like compartment syndrome.

Introduction: Superposing 3D models is an imminent need. However, current methods rely on marking multiple points on the maxilla and mandible, which could increase point marking and overlapping errors.

Objective: This study aimed at developing a method for superimposing 3D models of the maxillary and mandibular arches with Autodesk Inventor® engineering software, using a single universal coordinate system (UCS) point superposition.
