Septo-optic dysplasia plus: A case report for reviewing and recognizing this condition.

Septo-optic dysplasia is a congenital neurological condition with multifactorial etiology, characterized by septum pellucidum agenesis and/or corpus callosum dysgenesis, hypoplasia of the chiasm or optic nerves, and hormonal dysfunction with pituitary or hypothalamic alterations. Diagnosis requires two of these criteria and magnetic resonance is the imaging test of choice. Most cases present with abnormalities of cortical development in the form known as septo-optic dysplasia plus.

Diffuse pulmonary lymphangiomatosis as a differential diagnosis of anterior mediastinal mass.

Diffuse pulmonary lymphangiomatosis (DLP) is an extremely rare silent disease, characterized by proliferation and thickening of abnormal pulmonary, pleural, and mediastinal soft tissue lymphatic channels. Its clinical presentation is nonspecific symptoms such as cough, dyspnea, and hemoptysis. Tomographic findings for DLP include thickening of the interlobular septa and peribronchovascular interstitium and ground glass opacities.

Description of swine producer biosecurity planning for foreign animal disease preparedness using the Secure Pork Supply framework.

Introduction: Preventing potential foreign animal diseases is a high priority, with re-emerging threats such as African Swine Fever emerging close to North American borders. The Secure Pork Supply (SPS) plan provides a voluntary framework for swine producer biosecurity planning and disease outbreak preparedness. However, biosecurity knowledge varies greatly among swine veterinarians, managers, and caretakers within the industry, which impacts the understanding, quality, implementation and biosecurity plan agreements with the SPS guidelines unless review procedures and quality control mechanisms are in place.

DIMet: an open-source tool for differential analysis of targeted isotope-labeled metabolomics data.

Motivation: Many diseases, such as cancer, are characterized by an alteration of cellular metabolism allowing cells to adapt to changes in the microenvironment. Stable isotope-resolved metabolomics (SIRM) and downstream data analyses are widely used techniques for unraveling cells' metabolic activity to understand the altered functioning of metabolic pathways in the diseased state. While a number of bioinformatic solutions exist for the differential analysis of SIRM data, there is currently no available resource providing a comprehensive toolbox.

High-resolution scanning tunneling microscope and its adaptation for local thermopower measurements in 2D materials.

We present the design, fabrication and discuss the performance of a new combined high-resolution Scanning Tunneling and Thermopower Microscope (STM/SThEM). We also describe the development of the electronic control, the user interface, the vacuum system, and arrangements to reduce acoustical noise and vibrations. We demonstrate the microscope's performance with atomic-resolution topographic images of highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) and local thermopower measurements in the semimetal BiTe.
