The anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are clinically used as an androgen replacement, in hypogonadism treatment, to induce puberty, and also in the treatment of chronic degenerative diseases. The AAS use out of clinical context is becoming massively, being used merely for aesthetic reasons. AAS abuse may cause severe disarrangement on the HPG axis and generate a significant decrease in testosterone synthesis and secretion by the testes.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis functionality on a bodybuilding competitioner before, during and after the use of anabolic-androgenic steroids. A young healthy man was followed up for 4 months. The subject reported his drug administration protocol through periodic interviews and performed laboratory tests to monitor the function of his hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.

The inappropriate use of medication represents a major threat to public health and drugs rank first among the agents causing intoxication in Brazil, ahead of poisons for rodents and insects, illegal drugs, pesticides, cleaning products and spoiled food. The National Curriculum of Secondary Education Parameters (PCN+) give major emphasis to health, since the reference to Drugs is mentioned repeatedly in the text. The scope of this research was to study the approaches to drug use in textbooks.

Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is an emerging public health concern. Although different treatments for OSAHS had been proposed, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the first-line treatment in moderate to serious OSAHS in which success can be achieved by increasing compliance to CPAP.

Materials And Methods: This study analyzes long-term CPAP compliance in patients with OSAHS on CPAP therapy for at least 1 month, who began CPAP therapy between January 2004 and December 2006, followed up at a Portuguese Sleep Outpatient Clinic in Santo António Hospital.
