Given the lack of hope for a cure of dementia, healthcare professionals provide end-of-life patients and their families with close support. The strain they place on their medical, technical, relational and emotional skills is not without consequences for their quality of life and psycho-emotional adjustment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the consequences of the work of practitioners in a gerontological psychiatric service in Belgium.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a fatal neurodegenerative disease, associated with the degeneration of both upper and lower motor neurons of the motor cortex, brainstem and spinal cord. Death in most patients results from respiratory failure within 3-4 years from symptom onset. However, due to disease heterogeneity some individuals survive only months from symptom onset while others live for several years.

Unexpected Clinical Lessons Learned From IL-4 and IL-13 Blockade.

In 2017, dupilumab became the first FDA approved systemic therapy for atopic dermatitis. Since its approval, extensive clinical experience and continued research have revealed a number of unexpected effects that are highly clinically relevant. We will review these clinical effects and the supporting evidence.

Atypical Presentation of Boerhaave Syndrome With Hypoxia and Unresponsiveness.

The following case discusses the atypical presentation of a spontaneous esophageal rupture that presented as acute hypoxic respiratory failure in the emergency department. The patient initially arrived by ambulance with a chief complaint of non-radiating chest pain for approximately one hour. Within minutes after arrival, the patient became hypoxic and bradycardic, requiring supplemental oxygen.
