Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the effectiveness of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) for smoking cessation among women of reproductive age, emphasizing their vulnerability to cigarette-related harms.
  • Daily ENDS users had higher odds of making quit attempts and successfully quitting smoking compared to those who used ENDS less frequently or not at all.
  • The findings suggest that while daily ENDS use may aid in quitting, non-daily use might actually hinder smoking cessation efforts for women of reproductive age.

Purpose: Greater transparency and consistency when defining multimorbidity in different settings is needed. We aimed to: (1) adapt published principles that can guide the selection of long-term conditions for inclusion in research studies of multimorbidity in hospitals; (2) apply these principles and identify a list of long-term conditions; (3) operationalise this list by mapping it to International Classification of Diseases 10th revision (ICD-10) codes.

Methods: Review by independent assessors and ratification by an interdisciplinary programme management group.
