Objective: We sought to assess whether the totality of advancements seen in cochlear implant (CI) design and implementation have translated to significant improvements in speech perception scores.
Databases Reviewed: EMBASE, PubMed/MEDLINE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.
Methods: A systematic review of all English-language studies in peer-reviewed journals from 1946 to August 2022 was performed based on the Cochrane Handbook and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.
Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains one of the most lethal malignancies, largely due to its dense fibrotic stroma that promotes drug resistance and tumor progression. While patient-derived organoids (PDOs) have emerged as promising tools for modeling PDAC and evaluating therapeutic responses, the current PDO models grown in soft matrices fail to replicate the tumor's stiff extracellular matrix (ECM), limiting their predictive value for advanced disease.
Methods: We developed a biomimetic model using gelatin-based matrices of varying stiffness, achieved through modulated transglutaminase crosslinking rates, to better simulate the desmoplastic PDAC microenvironment.
Importance: Best practices for improving access to assessment of hereditary cancer risk in primary care are lacking.
Objective: To compare 2 population-based engagement strategies for identifying primary care patients with a family or personal history of cancer and offering eligible individuals genetic testing for cancer susceptibility.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The EDGE (Early Detection of Genetic Risk) clinical trial cluster-randomized 12 clinics from 2 health care systems in Montana, Wyoming, and Washington state to 1 of 2 engagement approaches for assessment of hereditary cancer risk in primary care.

Objective: Hypoalbuminemia (HA) is a proxy for malnutrition that has been associated with postoperative complications in several surgical subspecialties. This study investigates the association between pre-operative HA and complications following major salivary gland (MSG) resection.
Methods: Patients undergoing outpatient, elective MSG resection were extracted from the 2005 to 2020 National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database.
Protein arginine methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5), which symmetrically dimethylates cytosolic and nuclear proteins, has been demonstrated as an important cancer therapeutic target. In recent years, many advanced achievements in PRMT5 inhibitor development have been made. Most PRMT5 inhibitors in the clinical trial focus on targeting the C-terminal catalytic domain, whereas developing small molecules to interrupt the PRMT5/pICLn (methylosome subunit) protein-protein interface is also of great importance for inhibiting PRMT5.
