As a result of the ever increasing problem of multiresistant bacteria, we instituted a surveillance program with the aim of identifying the basic molecular properties of ESBL in our environment. About 197 isolates of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae were selected and tested for ESBL production and antimicrobial susceptibility. Lymphatic filariasis (LF) represents a major public health problem in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Following the admission of a 65 year old man from Sowo village Abeokuta Ogun State with a case of LF at the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, a cross-sectional based survey was carried out to determine the occurrence and prevalence of LF in this village.
