Two new photoswitchable dithienylethene (DTE)-catechol ligands, specifically designed for group 13 metal coordination, were synthesized via Suzuki coupling reactions from a dichloro-DTE building block, each with varying longitudinal extensions. The shorter DTE-catechol ligand did not efficiently assemble with Ga metal ions; however, elongation with a phenylene-amide spacer group enabled the successful formation of a novel triply DTE-functionalized coordination [GaL] cage. This cage represents a unique example of integrating DTE photoswitches with main group metals in a supramolecular coordination framework.

The off-label use of rupatadine (a second-generation antihistamine with PAF antagonist activity) in these conditions is reviewed here, including in combination with immunotherapy in the treatment of food allergy or allergic rhinitis, at high doses in chronic urticaria, and with prescriptions of less common but challenging conditions such as skin pruritus or mast cell activation disorders like mastocytosis. Rupatadine use is reviewed herein to confirm if its off-label management is supported by well-designed clinical trials or by published real-world cases.

This study aimed to assess the expression of PAFR and the concentration of Lyso-PAF isoforms in the nasal polyps (NP) of patients suffering from CRS with/without comorbidities such as asthma and NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease (N-ERD) compared to healthy nasal mucosa (NM) from control subjects.

The objectives of this work were to develop a model to explain the pharmacokinetics (PK) of rupatadine, a second generation antihistamine, administered to children 2-11 years old and to calculate the non-compartmental PK parameters for two groups of age (2-5 and 6-11 years old) based on the individual Bayesian estimates from the selected model.
Methods: Data from two PK studies with rupatadine oral solution (1 mg/mL) were pooled: Study A, an extensive blood sampling study performed in 11 children (6-11 years old) who received a single oral dose of rupatadine; and Study B, a sparse blood sampling study in 40 children (2-5 years old) receiving multiple oral doses.
Objective: We hypothesized that the implementation of evidence-based interventions shaping a bundle approach could significantly reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) in the neonatal intensive care unit.
Study Design: We conducted a prospective observational cohort study including neonates undergoing mechanical ventilation >48 h. VAP rate and endotracheal intubation ratio were compared before (pre-period) and after (post-period) applying VAP prevention bundle strategies.
Background: Clinical management of ischemic events and prevention of vascular disease is based on antiplatelet drugs. Given the relevance of phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase (PI3K) as a candidate target in thrombosis, the main goal of the present study was to identify novel antiplatelet agents within the existing inhibitors blocking PI3K isoforms.
Methods: We performed a biological evaluation of the pharmacological activity of PI3K inhibitors in platelets.
