This paper reviews recent findings on the normative analysis of private and governmental countermeasures against infectious diseases, focusing on COVID-19. Based on a model that relates the economic activity to infectious disease epidemics, policies that maximize social welfare are considered. Background: Although prostate cancer is a very common form of malignancy in men, the clinical significance of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) with abiraterone acetate versus the nonsteroidal antiandrogen bicalutamide has not yet been verified in patients with high-risk metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). An early repolarization (ER) pattern or J waves are considered to be a benign finding observed in the healthy population, however, it has been pointed out that the ER pattern seen in the inferolateral leads could be an independent risk factor for fatal arrhythmias. We present a pediatric case in which early repolarization syndrome (ERS) was suspected due to the presence of ER or J waves in the inferior leads, which eventually disappeared after the administration of pilsicainide. During the follow-up period, several fatal ventricular arrhythmias were recorded after implantation of a subcutaneous implantable cardiac defibrillator (S-ICD).

COVID-19 pneumonia is a disease that causes an existential health crisis in many people by directly affecting and damaging lung cells. The segmentation of infected areas from computed tomography (CT) images can be used to assist and provide useful information for COVID-19 diagnosis. Although several deep learning-based segmentation methods have been proposed for COVID-19 segmentation and have achieved state-of-the-art results, the segmentation accuracy is still not high enough (approximately 85%) due to the variations of COVID-19 infected areas (such as shape and size variations) and the similarities between COVID-19 and non-COVID-infected areas.
