Translation into Brazilian Portuguese and transcultural adaptation of the Apraxia of Speech Rating Scale 3.5.

Purpose: To present the translation into Brazilian Portuguese and cross-cultural adaptation of the Apraxia of Speech Rating Scale (ASRS) version 3.5.

Methods: Validation study restricted to translation and cross-cultural adaptation.

Contributions of speech-language therapy to the integration of individuals with Down syndrome in the workplace.

Purpose: To analyze the contributions of speech-language therapy in the integration of young individuals with Down syndrome (DS) into the workplace, with reference to their professionalization.

Methods: A questionnaire was distributed to eight undergraduate students (tutors) who participated in a project with individuals with DS, five mothers of individuals with DS, and five employees from the institution in which the present study was conducted. The questionnaire assessed the communication, memory, behavior, social interaction, autonomy and independence of the participants with DS, called "trainees".

Accent and television journalism: evidence for the practice of speech language pathologists and audiologists.

Purpose: To analyze the preferences and attitudes of listeners in relation to regional (RA) and softened accents (SA) in television journalism.

Methods: Three television news presenters recorded carrier phrases and a standard text using RA and SA. The recordings were presented to 105 judges who listened to the word pairs and answered whether they perceived differences between the RA and SA, and the type of pronunciation that they preferred in the speech of television news presenters.

Vocal characteristics during child development: perceptual-auditory and acoustic data.

Objective: To analyze perceptual-auditory and acoustic characteristics of children's voices of different age ranges.

Patients And Methods: Ninety-three 3- to 10-year-old children grouped from 3 to 5, 6 to 7, and 8 to 10 years served as participants. The severity of vocal deviation and the parameters of roughness, breathiness, strain, and instability were assessed using a visual analog scale.

Severity of voice disorders in children: correlations between perceptual and acoustic data.

Objectives: The aims of this study were to verify whether there is correlation between perceptual and acoustic data and to verify which measures are useful to identify the severity of voice deviation in children.

Methods: The participants were 71 children aged 3-9 years. The severity of voice deviation, roughness, breathiness, strain, and instability was evaluated by three speech therapists, experts on perceptual voice evaluation.
