Background: Bridging reconstruction (BRR) using human dermal allograft has emerged as a promising technique for large to massive rotator cuff tears allowing anatomical reconstruction of the rotator cuff, and preventing excessive repair tension, but little is known on the mid to long term results of this technique. The purpose of this study was to evaluate progression of rotator cuff arthropathy, graft healing, and clinical outcomes in patients following BRR for large to massive rotator cuff tears with a minimum 5-year follow-up.
Methods: A retrospective chart review of prospectively collected data was conducted for all patients who underwent BRR between 2012 and 2017.
Purpose: To compare the clinical outcomes between patients who received arthroscopic anatomic glenoid reconstruction (AAGR) using distal tibia allograft with button fixation versus screw fixation.
Methods: A retrospective chart review was conducted for all patients who underwent AAGR with button or screw fixation between 2012 and 2021. Patients were matched at a 1:1 ratio based on sex, type of surgery, and time since surgery.
Background: Cardiogenic shock carries high mortality. This study investigated the relationship between protocol-advocated best practices and outcomes.
Methods: Patients with cardiogenic shock supported by Impella CP in an Asian tertiary cardiac center were evaluated for 30-day post percutaneous ventricular assist device (PVAD) survival after adopting a standardized protocol emphasizing early mechanical circulatory support (shock-to-PVAD time ≤180 minutes), pulmonary artery catheterization for invasive hemodynamics, and safe vascular access.
Background: While surgical stabilization is typically recommended for patients with recurrent shoulder instability, the management of first-time shoulder dislocation (FTSD) presents a unique challenge for health care providers.
Purpose: To assess the efficacy of arthroscopic Bankart repair (ABR) compared with nonoperative management for FTSDs.
Study Design: Review.
Background: Inconsistencies in the workup of labral tears in the hip have been shown to result in a delay in treatment and an increased cost to the medical system.
Purpose: To establish consensus statements among Canadian nonoperative/operative sports medicine physicians via a modified Delphi process on the diagnosis, nonoperative and operative management, and rehabilitation and return to play (RTP) of those with labral tears in the hip.
Study Design: A consensus statement.
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound psychophysiological and socioeconomic effects worldwide. COVID-19 anxiety syndrome (CAS) is a specific cluster of maladaptive coping strategies, including perseveration and avoidance behaviours, in response to the perceived threat and fear of COVID-19. CAS is distinct from general COVID-19 anxiety.

Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of patients diagnosed with FAIS, with or without other joint pain, treated with hip arthroscopy from 2016 to 2020. Excluded cases were patients who had significant arthritis, irreparable labral tear requiring reconstruction, or were lost follow-up.
Simultaneous bilateral quadriceps tears are rare with fewer than 150 cases reported in the literature and typically occur in male patients greater than 40 years of age. If left untreated or with delayed clinical intervention, these injuries often lead to chronic disability including pain and reduced ambulation. Typical treatments include surgical repair with considerable post-operative rehabilitation and a guarded prognosis.

Challenging the hip with inclined walking for individuals with FAIS might be important for elucidating mechanically driven function loss and informing tailored rehabilitation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of progressive inclined walking on sagittal hip biomechanics and hip flexor and extensor activity in individuals with FAIS.

The emergence of mixed reality technology has been made possible by the introduction of head-mounted displays, which are being utilized across multiple surgical specialties.

Arthroscopic anatomic glenoid reconstruction (AAGR) is an evolving technique with similar clinical results to the Latarjet procedure and other open bone block procedures. Multiple types of bone grafts and fixation techniques have been described, with varying results on bony integration, resorption, articular congruity, and recurrence rates.

In this study, we isolated SWS from dead mud crab during a disease outbreak in a Hong Kong aquaculture farm, which caused up to 70% mortality during summer.
Methods: Experimental infection and histopathology were used to investigate the pathogenicity of SWS in and validate Koch's postulates.
The overall failure rate of rotator cuff healing after primary repair is high and is even greater in revision cases. This worrisome outcome has spurred the development and use of biological materials to help promote healing potentials. This Technical Note describes an all-arthroscopic technique for the application of a bioinductive collagen patch to augment subscapularis full-thickness tear repair.

This study evaluated the prognostic role of cardiac power output (CPO) ratio, defined as CPO at 24 h divided by early CPO (30 min to 2 h), in CS patients after PVAD.
Methods And Results: Consecutive CS patients from the QEH-PVAD Registry were followed up for survival at 90 days after PVAD.
Objective: This study aimed to characterize the changing landscape of circulating SARS-CoV-2 lineages in the local community of Hong Kong throughout 2022. We examined how adjustments to quarantine arrangements influenced the transmission pattern of Omicron variants in a city with relatively rigorous social distancing measures at that time.
Methods: In 2022, a total of 4684 local SARS-CoV-2 genomes were sequenced using the Oxford Nanopore GridION sequencer.
Background: The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical and radiographic outcomes of arthroscopic anatomic glenoid reconstruction (AAGR) used for primary vs. revision surgery for addressing anterior shoulder instability with bone loss.
Methods: We performed a retrospective review on consecutive patients who underwent AAGR from 2012 to 2020.
A 63-year-old man presented with delayed inferior ST-elevation myocardial infarction complicated with ventricular septal rupture (VSR). He developed cardiogenic shock and respiratory failure requiring intubation and Impella (Abiomed) support.

To overcome this limitation, the next-generation ACURATE neo2 features a 60% larger external sealing skirt. Data on long-term performance are limited; however, clinical evidence suggests improved short-term performance which is comparable to contemporary THVs.
