The authors examined 197 neonates with different lesions of the brain and spinal cord. The conclusion was made that investigation of unconditioned reflexes can make a valuable contribution to the topical diagnosis. In cerebral lesions, search, sucking and lip reflexes disappear or dramatically reduce.

The authors state that a marked hypotonia of the lower extremity muscles in children with progressive muscular dystrophy may lead to the development of secondary dislocations and semi-dislocations of the femur, which were detected in 18 of the 32 patients examined. Most of the patients had Werdnig-Hoffmann's spinal amyotrophy which was related to an especially gross muscular hypotonia.

The authors observed 68 ill children with pronounced muscular hypotonia (myotonia), who were thoroughly examined. The authors describe a group of cervical syndromes and present the symptomatology of myotonic manifestations. On the spondylograms, and with the help of REG and EMG, the signs typical for the natal damage of the cervical area of the spine and spinal cord were revealed.
