The authors studied the prevalence of atrophic gastritis, H.pylori strains carrying the CagA gene, seeding and apoptosis indices of gastric mucosa in indigenous and newcomer residents of Evenkia. A total of 136 Evenks and 159 newcomers were examined using fibrogastroscopy and biopsy of antral gastric mucosa.

Caucasoids and mongoloids from different regions of Siberia were examined for the prevalence of cholelithiasis, serum lipid and fatty acid profiles. In Caucasoids, unlike Mongoloids, cholelithiasis was associated with increased serum cholesterol. This finding suggests that relative stability of lipid metabolism in Mongoloids protects them from biliary pathology.

Aim: To examine correlations between bile lipid composition and fatty acid composition of blood serum in cholelithiasis patients.

Material And Methods: Cholelithiasis prevalence in Khakasia Republic was studied in a clinico-epidemiological trial with participation of 1393 European people and 1060 mongoloid people--Khakasians. Bile lipids and serum fatty acids were measured.

The aim of the study was to investigate metabolic factors that protect the human organism from cholelithiasis and coronary artery disease (CAD). An epidemiological study was carried out to determine the prevalence of cholelithiasis and CAD in eight settlements of Yakutia and Evenkia. The subjects were 1154 Evens and Evenks, and 1591 Europoids.

Aim: To study prevalence of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) CagA strains and ulcer disease in native population of eastern Siberia and migrants.

Material And Methods: Epidemiological screening of Hp CagA strains and ulcer disease was performed by cross-sectional method in population of Evenkia, Khakassia, Tuva. Fibrogastroduodenoscopy was made in 3602 examinees; IgG of CagA Hp was detected in the sera of 2472 patients with entyme immunoassay.

Aim: To study morphofunctional peculiarities of gastric mucosa in native and migrant rural population of North Siberia.

Material And Methods: A comprehensive clinicomorphological examination including physical examination, ultrasonic scanning, cholecystography, duodenal intubation, intragastric pH-metry, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, quantitative and qualitative investigations of gastric mucosa was conducted in 148 migrants (Russians, Ukrainians) and 165 evenks living in Evenkia.

Results: In both population groups, more often in the migrants, in cholecystitis vs dyskinesia patients frequency of atrophic changes in gastric mucosa was higher while acid production in the stomach was lower, antral gastritis more active.

Aim: To study association between Helicobacter Pylori infection in ulcer in native population and migrants in Siberia.

Materials And Methods: Epidemiological survey of ulcer has been performed in Northern (Evenkia, Yakutia) and Southern (Khakasia) regions of Siberia. Clinical examination covered 3908 Europeoids (Russians, Ukrainians) and 1999 Mongoloids (Evenks, Evens, Khakases).

Biochemical composition of the bile and blood serum was investigated in Evenkia and Yakutia residents and immigrants. Blood lipids in the immigrants were much higher while bile lipids lower than in the natives. It is suggested that normolipidemia in the residents may be determined by intensive synthesis of biliary acids and other lipids in the liver and their secretion into the bile.

Aim: The study of biochemical bile composition in Asian North migrants with biliary diseases (BD).

Materials And Methods: The diagnosis of BD was made upon clinical examination, ultrasound scanning, duodenal intubation in 329 examinees. The bile was examined for total bile acids, total cholesterol, total phospholipids and bile acid spectrum.

Altogether 156 Evenks and 162 Evens were examined in the reindeer regions of Evenkia and the Yakut Republic located in the extreme north of Russia. Seasonal changes in the concentration and ratio of bile lipids were discovered. The conclusion is made that space and time coordinates are of importance for the diagnosis and treatment of biliary tract diseases in northern nations.
