February 2003
Nineteen patients with anterior endogenous granulomatous uveitis were examined. Tuberculous and sarcoidosal anterior uveites run by and large similarly, but have some differences. Valid etiological diagnosis of granulomatous uveites requires a complex approach with consideration of extraocular manifestations.

The main group consisted of 90 patients (96 eyes) subjected to extracapsular cataract extraction with implantation of posterior-chamber intraocular lenses and the reference group of 128 patients in whom cataract was extracted without implantation of artificial lens. The study included creation of a mathematical model of myopic eye with estimation of pressure fluctuations in various zones of the eye, developing during transposition of the vitreous during patient's movements (head movements, jumps, falling) and the damping effect of the lens in the ocular system.

The authors pay special attention to the morphology of posterior segments of the vitreous and posterior hyaloid detachment and to relationship between tissues of the posterior segment and the type of pathological process. Sonograms with certain nosological entities are described and deciphered.

The patients' ages were 10-75 years. Hemodynamic parameters of normal bloodflow in the central retinal artery were determined: 9-15 cm/sec, diastolic velocity 4-6 cm/sec, and resistive index < 0.

This IOL is monolithic, the diameter of the optic part is large, and the centering openings are made on special influxes beyond the optic zone of the lens. Results of experimental trials on rabbits and clinical use of T-70C "J" IOLs are discussed.

They compare various types of soft contact lenses of different make by the following criteria: optical characteristics, variety of mathematical parameters, gas permeability, and tolerance of the lens by the eye. Recommendations on the choice of this or that lens type (simple soft contact or ultrathin lenses) are offered.
