The dynamics of a restitution of higher brain functions was studied in 30 patients and 20 normals of the same age and educational census with the aid of an experimental psychological test (a proof test, a remembrance of 10 words, a search for numbers according to the Schulte table and an elimination of significant signs). The achieved data testify to the fact that restitution of cerebral functions is accomplished slowly and that disorders do not disappear at the end of the month following a mild brain trauma. For this reason the duration of treatment in such cases should be not less than 30--35 days.

Neurological disturbances in Urow's disease are insufficiently studied. In order to clarify the neurological signs of this disease the author conducted neurological and neurophysiological (EEG, EMG, rheovasography, electrothermometry, telechronoreflexometry, psychological tests) studies in 1348 patients, including 211 in hospitalized patients. The achieved results testify to a diffuse lesion of different levels in the nervous system (brain cortex, stem structures, cerebellum, spinal cord and vegetative nervous system), not only in severe forms of Urow's disease, but also in the initial stages.

EEG studies of 112 patients in different stages of the uric (Kashin-Beck) disease revealed pathological shifts in the brain biopotentials, which were beyond the aging changes. Analysis of the EEG tracing demonstrated that the index of alpha-activity along with a progressive severity of the disease, especially in the 2nd and 3d stage, was statistically less, while the per cent of pathological forms of potentials increased. In a rhythmic photostimulation there were disorders in the brain reactivity.

In order to clarify the state of bioelectrical muscular activity in relation to the severity of the disease and the localization of the pathological process in Urowsche disease, the author examined 107 patients and 27 normals. The achieved data point to quantitative and qualitative differences of the bioelectrical muscular activity in patients and normals. In Urowsche disease in all stages of rest, in deep inhalation and synergia, electrical activity was not present.
