- In Japan, veterinary antimicrobials are primarily used in pig production, but detailed data on their usage is scarce.
- The study analyzed data from 72 pig farms over three years (2015-2017) and found average antimicrobial use to be 304.8, 311.2, and 342.9 mg/kg PCU, with most (97%) administered orally.
- Tetracyclines were the most commonly used, and usage was highest in the South Kanto region, showing an increasing trend in North Kanto, South Kanto, and Kyushu.
