Large ileal lipomas over 2 cm can cause symptoms, that may require a resection. Due to the narrow lumen and thin walls of the ileum, endoscopic treatments can have a high risk of adverse events and require technical expertise, thus surgical resection is currently the mainstay of treatment. To overcome the technical challenges, we developed a novel method to endoscopically resect terminal ileal lipomas.

This study realized the opposite mechanical properties during head protection by transitioning the deformation mode from bending to auxetic compression. First, non-linear finite element (FE) models were constructed to numerically reproduce the bending behavior.

Mathematical models for porous electrode impedance have been widely used in energy conversion and storage. They are also utilized for obtaining the physicochemical dynamics, resulting in theoretical understanding and prediction in practical energy devices. The existing mathematical models are limited in their explanations.

Methods: The study included 254 patients who relapsed within 7 years from the first postoperative period. The patients were divided into two groups according to the follow-up facility: the CC and FP groups (the follow-up of patients was structured in the same way between FPs and CCs).

In this study, the effects of charge/discharge cycling on the thermal stability of LiNiCoMnO, a high-Ni cathode material, are systematically investigated. X-ray diffraction measurements show that there is almost no change in the bulk structure of the cathode after cycling. However, X-ray absorption fine structure measurements indicate that Ni in the surface layer is reduced and stable rock-salt structures are formed.

It uniquely originated from the coumadin ridge between the left upper pulmonary vein and the left atrial appendage. He underwent tumor resection under cardiopulmonary bypass with superior transseptal approach.

Cases of IgG4-RD characterized by swelling of the palatal glands, however, are extremely rare. Here, we describe a case of IgG4-RD involving bilateral swelling of the palatal glands.

We report a case of suspected reinfection with the mumps virus in an elderly patient which resulted in temporary closure of an inpatient ward. A 65-year-old man with colorectal cancer was admitted to the digestive surgery ward at our hospital to undergo a stoma closure operation. He was subsequently referred to our department with right swelling in the preauricular region on postoperative day 4.

However, such optimization is difficult and time consuming by hand for even experts. In this article, we propose a battery optimization system, which consists of an automatic geometry generator and performance simulators.

The lesion was visualized as a radiolucent gap on a lateral radiograph and a hypoechoic gap on an ultrasonogram in which the hyperechoic bony line disappeared. Using regular ultrasonographic examinations, the healing of the fracture could be characterized by increased echogenicity inside the gap and the formation of a hyperechoic bony bridge.

Poorer prognosis of hemangiopericytoma of the central nervous system (CNS), hypoglycemic SFT, and dedifferentiation are well-known characters of SFT, but their clinical significance were not demonstrated enough by large-sized study. Here, the clinicopathological features of SFTs are reviewed and the relationship between genetics and clinicopathological features is examined using 145 SFT cases.

Herein, we report the first solution by analyzing the impedance using symmetric cells in the absence of charge-transfer reactions to obtain a parameter quantitatively describing ion transport in porous electrodes and thus modeling the effects of nonuniform reaction occurrence. The reciprocal of ionic resistance in porous electrodes () is found to be positively correlated with capacity retention during low-temperature cycling and is approximated as the product of maximum capacitance related to electric double-layer formation () and the associated frequency ().

Immunohistochemistry and a fluorescent in situ hybridization analysis of the biopsied lung tumor revealed anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene rearrangement. Although the origin of the ovarian tumor remained unclear, alectinib administration was initiated, and radiological responses were observed in all lesions, which confirmed that the ovarian tumor was a metastasis from lung cancer.

We here report a case of AAA associated with periaortic malignant lymphoma diagnosed preoperatively with an absence of typical symptoms, showing that AAA in periaortic malignant lymphoma can present without any clinical correlates. Magnetic resonance imaging was used to confirm the diagnosis.

Here, we have characterized a transfer DNA (T-DNA) insertion mutant line of rice, which overexpresses ;, owing to enhancer elements in the T-DNA, to gain an insight into the impact of OsHKT1;4 on salt tolerance of rice.

It has been hypothesized that selective inhibition of phosphodiesterase (PDE) 2A could potentially be a novel approach to treat cognitive impairment in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders through augmentation of cyclic nucleotide signaling pathways in brain regions associated with learning and memory. Following our earlier work, this article describes a drug design strategy for a new series of lead compounds structurally distinct from our clinical candidate 2 (TAK-915), and subsequent medicinal chemistry efforts to optimize potency, selectivity over other PDE families, and other preclinical properties including in vitro phototoxicity and in vivo rat plasma clearance. These efforts resulted in the discovery of N-((1S)-2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)propyl)-6-methyl-5-(3-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carboxamide (20), which robustly increased 3',5'-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels in the rat brain following an oral dose, and moreover, attenuated MK-801-induced episodic memory deficits in a passive avoidance task in rats.

Methods: Urine sampling was performed on 177 persons who voluntarily participated in the survey in May 2014.
Aims: Exposure to high altitudes especially with rapid ascent may induce hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV) and pulmonary hypertension (PH) possibly leading to life-threatening high-altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). The aim of the study was to evaluate the incidence of PH on a 1-day rapid ascent up Mount Fuji (3775 m) in recreational climbers and also to determine the effectiveness of sildenafil for this rapid ascent-induced PH as measured by echocardiography.
Methods And Results: Twenty-five subjects who climbed Mount Fuji showed significantly increased pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) from 22.
