Background: In early-stage endometrial cancer (EC), the treatment of aggressive histological subtypes (endometrioid carcinoma grade 3, serous carcinoma, clear-cell carcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma, mixed carcinoma, and carcinosarcoma) is controversial. We aimed to investigate the treatment of patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage IC and stage IIC EC according to the 2023 classification.

Methods: We retrospectively identified patients with FIGO 2023 stage IC, IIC-intermediate risk (IIC-I), and IIC-high risk (IIC-H) EC who underwent adjuvant therapy or observation after surgery at eight medical institutions from 2004 to 2023.

This study examines a class of time-dependent constitutive equations used to describe viscoelastic materials under creep in solid mechanics. In nonlinear elasticity, the strain response to the applied stress is expressed via an implicit graph allowing multi-valued functions. For coercive and maximal monotone graphs, the existence of a solution to the quasi-static viscoelastic problem is proven by applying the Browder-Minty fixed point theorem.

A 16-year-old intact female Miniature Dachshund (dog 1) and a 13-year-old intact female American Cocker Spaniel (dog 2) presented with a chief complaint of bleeding from a mammary gland tumour ulceration. Dog 1 was transferred to hospital from a local hospital in a haemorrhagic shock state with uncontrolled continuous bleeding. Thoracic radiographs revealed multiple nodular shadows suspected to be pulmonary metastasis.

Recent viral pandemics have increased global demand for vaccines. However, the supply of effective and safe vaccine not only to developed countries but also developing countries with inadequate storage equipment is still challenging due to the lack of robust systems which improve the efficacy and the stability of vaccines with few side effects. In our previous study, polypseudorotaxane (PPRX) hydrogels based on cyclodextrin (CyD) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) significantly improved the stability of antibody preparations and showed no serious adverse effects after subcutaneous injection, suggesting the possibility as safe vaccine formulations to stabilize an antigen protein.

We consider dynamic motion of a linearized elastic body with a crack subject to a modified contact law, which we call , and to the Tresca friction condition. Whereas the modified contact law involves both displacement and velocity, it formally includes the usual non-penetration condition as a special case. Mathematical methods based on the variational approach are successfully used in a broad range of applications, especially those fields that are oriented on partial differential equations. Our problem area addresses a wide class of nonlinear variational problems described by all kinds of static and evolution equations, inverse and ill-posed problems, non-smooth and non-convex optimization, and optimal control including shape and topology optimization. Within these directions, we focus but are not limited to singular and unilaterally constrained problems arising in mechanics and physics, which are governed by complex systems of generalized variational equations and inequalities.

Quercetin is a flavonoid that is widely found in fruits and vegetables. Quercetin inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 and modulates voltage-gated ion channels, however, its effect on nociceptive neuron-associated inflammatory hyperalgesia remains unknown. The present study investigated under in vivo conditions whether systemic administration of quercetin attenuates the inflammation-induced hyperexcitability of trigeminal spinal nucleus caudalis (SpVc) neurons associated with mechanical hyperalgesia and compared its effect to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, diclofenac.

We study some mathematical properties of a novel implicit constitutive relation wherein the stress and the linearized strain appear linearly that has been recently put into place to describe elastic response of porous metals as well as materials such as rocks and concrete. In the corresponding mixed variational formulation the displacement, the deviatoric and spherical stress are three independent fields. To treat well-posedness of the quasi-linear elliptic problem, we rely on the one-parameter dependence, regularization of the linear-fractional singularity by thresholding, and applying the Browder-Minty existence theorem for the regularized problem.

An 8-year-old Ragdoll cat was admitted to our hospital after its owner noticed sudden lethargy. Abdominal ultrasonography showed a large amount of blood in the abdominal cavity, and the cat was diagnosed as having hemorrhagic shock caused by the rupture of an intra-abdominal mass. Blood transfusion was performed on the 1st day of hospitalization.

Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by gastrointestinal microbiota regulate immune responses, but host molecular mechanisms remain unknown. Unbiased screening using SCFA-conjugated affinity nanobeads identified apoptosis-associated speck-like protein (ASC), an adaptor protein of inflammasome complex, as a noncanonical SCFA receptor besides GPRs. SCFAs promoted inflammasome activation in macrophages by binding to its ASC PYRIN domain.

A major drawback of the study of cracks within the context of the linearized theory of elasticity is the inconsistency that one obtains with regard to the strain at a crack tip, namely it becoming infinite. In this paper we consider the problem within the context of an elastic body that exhibits limiting small strain wherein we are not faced with such an inconsistency. We introduce the concept of a non-smooth viscosity solution which is described by generalized variational inequalities and coincides with the weak solution in the smooth case.

In this study, we identified a strain of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) that induces high levels of IL-10 production by immune cells, and evaluated the ability of the strain to suppress chronic inflammation and ameliorate metabolic disorders in in vitro and in vivo models. Among a collection of LAB strains, Lactobacillus plantarum strain OLL2712 (OLL2712) induced the highest levels of IL-10 production in mouse-derived dendritic cells and peritoneal macrophages. The anti-inflammatory effects of this strain were evaluated using a co-culture system comprising RAW 264.

Exposure to ultraviolet-B (UV-B) irradiation causes skin barrier defects. Based on earlier findings that milk phospholipids containing high amounts of sphingomyelin (SM) improved the water content of the stratum corneum (SC) in normal mice, here we investigated the effects of dietary milk SM on skin barrier defects induced by a single dose of UV-B irradiation in hairless mice. We report a case of small intestinal cancer that arose in the upper intestine 16 years after pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy( PPPD). An 84-year-old man, who had undergone PPPD for benign biliary tract disease 16 years previously, was found to have a primary small intestinal tumor in the upper intestine by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, and primary intestinal cancer in the upper intestine was finally diagnosed. We performed partial resection of the upper small intestine and stomach and partial colectomy of the transverse colon to account for direct invasion.
