The synthesis of 2- and 6-substituted-3-aminopiperidines from Weinreb amides containing an allylamino fragment is reported. Involving the simultaneous hydrozirconation of the C═C and the C═O bonds, the cyclization was promoted by the BF-mediated generation of an iminium. Proven to be highly diastereoselective, the sequence can be applied to diversely substituted unsaturated Weinreb amides and valorized through the preparation of bicyclic heterocycles.

Idiopathic epilepsy (IE), is a group of epileptic syndromes with no structural brain lesion, but with microstructural changes in neuronal networks leading to neuropsychological consequences. Therefore, the assessment of saccadic eye movements can provide insight into the integrity of cerebral networks as it involves large cortical and subcortical brain areas and circuitries. Describe saccadic eye movement abnormalities in patients with IE and correlate them with disease characteristics and antiseizure medication.

Pediatricians are among the most trusted sources of vaccine information for parents. We aimed, in this study, to describe the attitudes and practices of Tunisian pediatricians regarding non-National Immunization Schedule (NIS) vaccines, specifically the COVID-19 vaccination for children, and to identify factors associated with their willingness to recommend it. We conducted a national cross-sectional study among Tunisian pediatricians between July and October 2023 using a standardized questionnaire administered face-to-face.

Ticks and tick-borne pathogens (TBPs) are a threat to human and animal health worldwide. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge, attitudes/practices, and perceptions (KAP) of 86 farmers of extensive sheep farming systems across different agro-ecological areas in Tunisia. The response rate was about 91.

Flooding induces hypoxia in plant tissues, impacting various physiological and biochemical processes. This study investigates the adaptive response of the roots and nitrogen-fixing nodules of Medicago truncatula in symbiosis with Sinorhizobium meliloti under short-term hypoxia caused by flooding. Four-week-old plants were subjected to flooding for 1-4 days.

Introduction: Global coronal alignment is mainly assessed by C7 plumbline and central sacral vertical line (CSVL), pelvic obliquity and shoulder alignment. A detailed analysis is mandatory when treating spinal deformity. It remains unclear to what extent mild scoliosis influences global coronal alignment.

Introduction And Importance: Elastofibroma dorsi is a rare benign soft tissue lesion primarily located in the subscapular region. This distinctive lesion, with its unique radiological and histological features, poses diagnostic challenges due to its subtle presentation and overlap with other conditions.

Case Presentation: A 48-year-old man, manual laborer with an unremarkable medical history presented with a progressively enlarging mass below the right scapula over two years.

Article Synopsis
  • Single-chamber right ventricular leadless pacemakers are already established, and the new right atrial leadless pacemakers allow for dual-chamber pacing.
  • A 58-year-old male with dizziness and complete heart block received a single-chamber leadless pacemaker, and during an upgrade to dual-chamber pacing, 3D CT image fusion was used for safe implantation.
  • The combination of CT imaging and fluoroscopy may improve procedural safety, increase success rates, and decrease the time spent using fluoroscopy.

Long non-coding ribonucleic acids (lncRNAs) have been implicated as possible circulating stroke indicators. This study focused on the expression status of antisense non-coding ribonucleic acid in the INK4 locus (ANRIL) and myocardial infarction associated transcript (MIAT) in patients with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT). In this study, fifty patients with CVT and one hundred age/gender-matched individuals as controls were included.

This study investigates the effects of two blended learning strategies on improving tacking technique in Optimist sailing among children aged 11-13. Specifically, it compares video feedback with online written instructions (BLIV) and online written instructions only (BLI). Thirty-one children aged 11-13 years old were randomly divided into three groups with different learning strategies: BLIV, BLI, and a control group (CONT).

Introduction And Importance: Tuberculous osteoarthritis, a rare condition affecting the elbow in 1-5 % of cases, poses diagnostic challenges due to its subtle clinical presentation, often resulting in delayed diagnosis. Herein, we present a case of tuberculous osteoarthritis involving the elbow joint. Our aim is to underscore the complexities associated with diagnosing this condition and to emphasize the critical importance of early recognition and appropriate management strategies for optimal patient outcomes.

Background: Ragweed is an invasive, highly allergenic weed predicted to expand its habitat with warming global temperatures. Several species have been identified in South Africa for well over a century; however, its presence remained undetected by allergists and aerobiologists until the development of an extensive aerospora monitoring system across South African urban areas since 2019. This paper presents the inventory of preliminary investigation of the airborne pollen and the taxonomic identification of ragweed species.

Background: The salmon louse (Lepeophtheirus salmonis) is a parasite of wild and farmed salmonid fish, causing huge economic damage to the commercial farming of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) in the northern hemisphere. The avermectin emamectin benzoate (EMB) is widely used for salmon delousing. While resistance to EMB is widespread in Atlantic populations of L.

Alopecurus aequalis is a winter annual or short-lived perennial bunchgrass which has in recent years emerged as the dominant agricultural weed of barley and wheat in certain regions of China and Japan, causing significant yield losses. Its robust tillering capacity and high fecundity, combined with the development of both target and non-target-site resistance to herbicides means it is a formidable challenge to food security. Here we report on a chromosome-scale assembly of A.

Magnesium is important for enzymatic reactions and physiological functions, and its intracellular concentration is tightly regulated. Atlantic salmon has the ability to handle large changes in environmental Mg concentration when migrating between freshwater and seawater habitats, making it a relevant model to investigate Mg homeostasis. Parr-smolt transformation (PST) is a life history transition which prepares the freshwater juvenile for the marine environment.

Background: Though social determinants are the primary drivers of health, few studies of people living with HIV focus on non-clinical correlates of insecure and/or fragmented connections with the care system. Our team uses linked clinical and multisector non-clinical data to study how residential mobility and connection to social services influence the HIV care continuum. We engage a diverse group of individuals living with HIV and other invested community members to guide and inform this research.
