Purpose: To study the molecular reparatory mechanisms of the retina and hypothalamus in the context of experimental dystrophy of receptor apparatus in rabbit retina.
Material And Methods: Retinal dystrophy was induced in rabbit eyes by injecting monoiodacetic acid (MIA) intravenously. Indirect ELISA test was used to evaluate the levels of rhodopsin, heat shock protein 70 kDa (HSP70) in the retina, and serotonin-modulating anticonsolidation protein (SMAP) - that directly correlates with serotonin level - in the hypothalamus.
