This study aims to screen bacterial isolates from Olabisi Onabanjo University Farmland for antibacterial activity against pathogenic microorganisms. Agar well diffusion method was used. Isolates were identified molecularly.

New α-glucosidase inhibiting anthracenone from the barks of Harungana madagascariensis Lam.

Two new 10-hydroxy-9(10H)-anthracenone, madagascenone A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the barks of Harungana madagascariensis Lam. The structures of the compounds were determined using 1D- and 2D-NMR and mass spectroscopic techniques. Both of the compounds showed an in vitro α-glucosidase inhibition with IC = 69.

Biotransformation of clerodane diterpenoids by Rhizopus stolonifer and antibacterial activity of resulting metabolites.

Microbial transformation of clerodane lactone (1) by a plant pathogen fungus, Rhizopus stolonifer, resulted in the production of metabolites 3 and 4. While incubation of clerodane methyl ester (2) by R. stolonifer yielded metabolites 5-8.
