Adherence, invasion, toxigenic, and chemotactic properties of Mexican campylobacter strains.

To determine the virulence factors of Mexican wild-type strains of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli, 31 wild-type strains were isolated from food and from humans. The production of cytolethal distending toxin and the adherence and invasion capabilities of these strains were assayed in Vero cells. Hard agar plugs with repellents and attractants were used to examine chemotaxis.
