Sepsis is characterized by a concomitant early pro-inflammatory response by immune cells to an infection, and an opposing anti-inflammatory response that results in protracted immunosuppression. The primary pathological event in sepsis is widespread programmed cell death, or cellular self-sacrifice, of innate and adaptive immune cells, leading to profound immunological suppression. This severe immune dysfunction hampers effective primary pathogen clearance, thereby increasing the risk of secondary opportunistic infections, latent viral reactivation, multiple organ dysfunction, and elevated mortality.

Nitrate (NO ) contamination from industrial, agricultural, and anthropogenic activities poses significant risks to human health and ecosystems. While traditional NO remediation methods are effective, they often generate secondary pollutants and incur high costs. Electrochemical NO reduction (ECNR) offers a sustainable alternative, converting NO into environmentally benign nitrogen (N) or valuable ammonia (NH).

The solar sector is shifting towards lead-free, inorganic cubic halide perovskites due to their superior structural, electronic, and optoelectronic properties. This study uses density functional theory (DFT) to examine the structural, electronic, and optical properties of XSnBr (X = Cs, Rb, K, Na) and assesses their photovoltaic performance through the Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator - One Dimensional (SCAPS-1D). The results show each material has a direct band gap at the Γ-point, low optical losses, and high absorption, making them promising for solar and optoelectronic applications.

Automatic electronic waste management needs to classify components specifically from laptops of different models and brands so that parts can be recycled efficiently using AI-enabled robots. To achieve this goal, a good dataset plays a significant role as the systems that operate e waste management machines will learn from this dataset and act accordingly. The lack of proper datasets that are available publicly related to components of any type of device can be a barrier to the work process.

Potassium bromate (KBrO), employed ubiquitously as an oxidizing agent in commonly consumed baked foods and as a flour improver to enhance dough quality, has been recognized as a possible human carcinogen. Despite stringent prohibitions in numerous nations eliciting substantial apprehension worldwide, notably in Bangladesh, the pervasive occurrence of KBrO in baked foods persists as a formidable public health quandary. This study aimed to investigate the presence of KBrO in five different popular baked foods comprising a total of 104 samples, such as bread ( = 39), cake ( = 33), burger buns ( = 13), pizza ( = 10), and naan ( = 9), collected from different districts across Bangladesh.
